I'm the mother of five. Edo is 12, Pudah is 9, Ladybug is 5, and The Man is 2 years old. Vi is 6 and just joined our family through adoption from Ukraine! We have all held down the fort while Daddy served two year long deployments. The first was in Afghanistan 2008 and second was in Iraq in 2010. We are going to hold down the fort again this year while Daddy is in Afghanistan on a Security Force Assistance and Advisory Team for 9 months. From teething to potty training to pre-teenhood, deployment to reintegration, and everything in between...there is never a dull moment in this house!

Lucky Number 7

Today is our 7th Wedding Anniversary!

7 years ago, it was just another weekend. My soldier was up visiting for President's Day.  We didn't have any thing else to do, so we just drove to the courthouse and had a little visit with the Justice of the Peace.

That, as they say. Was that.

Us, back then (February 2005, with Pudah, the afternoon we got married)

Us, Now. (February 2012. During our first trip to meet Vi, we met up with another adoptive family. Here we are , trying to steal their baby. Just kidding! *kind of!*)

7 years has gone by in the blink of an eye. We've had two kids and been through two not-as-amazing-year long deployments and various other separations for schools and trainings. The kids have grown, we have grown both as a couple and as a family.  It has been the most beautiful time of my life, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

And then, to top it all off, we've brought another daughter, a lovely child with so much spirit and light, into our family just before our anniversary.

My husband may very well be the finest man on earth.  Sorry, everyone else's husbands.

He chose to marry me, taking my two children on board, who he has loved and provided for like his own from the very start.  He has worked hard, fought harder, and yet maintained his gentleness and almost-infinite patience that surpasses my own and humbles me every day. And with everything else on his plate, he has graciously and lovingly opened his heart to parent another child.

He is my hero, in every sense of the word. I am the luckiest girl on earth.

Happy 7th anniversary, my love. I couldn't live without you.

By the way, I love that picture of you and Vi, and I can't wait to see a picture of your now complete family all together!
