Riddle Me This
If you are a parent, what I am about to say will ring so true with you it will probably make you laugh and cry all at once.
If you aren't a parent, someday at approximately 2:34 a.m. after you have become a parent this post will make total sense to you and you will probably laugh and cry at the same time.
Riddle Me This: Why don't kids ever start puking when its DAYLIGHT?!?!?!?
Our evening last night went something like this: four happy children, doing homework, playing, making the couch in to a jungle gym, eating dinner, having fudge-pops, getting ready for bed. Everyone appears to be happy as clams. But as it nears 8 p.m. it is clear Baby Man is not going down without a fight. He is squirming, fussing, generally displeased with anything I do to attempt to calm or soothe him to sleep.
Daddy arrives home around 8 p.m.
8:05 p.m..........Commence Puking.
Baby Man puked and puked and puked. He took a bath, he was happy. He screamed. He puked some more. He slept a little. He puked some more. I rocked him. I sat in the chair with him. He slept a little. He puked some more. I washed his little sad, puky face and changed his sheets and blankets 3 times.
The night dragged on into infinity.
I finally fell asleep around 4 a.m. only to be awoken an hour later by Edo at the bedside saying "Pudah says he's going to puke, I'm going to take him a bowl to put by his bed but I thought you might want to know."
That's the kind of big brother everyone needs. What a kid! I thanked him, and tried to sleep for ten more minutes before Bug woke me up with a "My stomach huuuuuuuuuuuurts."
Now, Bug and Pudah are curled up on the couch as we speak both complaining of severe stomach pain. They aren't puking....yet.
I'm not getting my hopes up. They are probably just waiting for the sun to go down.

How true! The worst experience at my house was when my son got sick and couldn't get off his bunk bed in time. Instead of keeping it contained, after throwing up on himself he threw up over the railing ALL OVER THE FLOOR!
ReplyDeleteEvery parent I know seems to be dealing with puking kids right now. Thankfully Little Miss has never puked(other than spit up/reflux puke...not exactly the same thing) and I am hoping we go another flu season without stomach bugs. Hope your little ones feel better soon!!
ReplyDeletePuke always happens in the middle of the night. Glad at least your husband made it home before the puke fest began! I will keep my fingers crossed that the other two don't start!
ReplyDeleteLora, this is soo true! Thank you for writing about it humorously. Good luck! :)
